The Maryland Incubator Impact Study RESI, 2001 (PDF file)
The Maryland Incubator Impact Study is a first of its kind study measuring the impact of Maryland’s six technology incubators in the state. The study uses three distinct and independent methodologies which show the incubators’ impact on Maryland’s economy.
This study was designed to assist in educating Maryland incubators on the highly effective practices used by other incubators – national, international and within Maryland – and to answer the need for measurable criteria against which incubator performance can be tested and future funding decisions can be made.
This study was designed to analyze the current environment for business incubators, to determine the ideal conditions that would maximize incubators’ success, and to outline priority actions for them. The research was based on focus groups with 28 incubator tenants (approximately 25 percent of all incubator tenants in Maryland) and identified the top five highest priorities for incubator companies.
